The Old Couple Poem by Charles M Moore

The Old Couple

Rating: 5.0

There's no knowing what tomorrow brings
or what the autumn, winter, springs,
We only know youths twilight glow
and memories of long ago

The evening dwells upon our years
and summers song rings in our ears
it takes its toll upon our frames
with thoughts that kindle drawn out flames

We've seen them come and seen them go
the many shades of life we know
the bitter sweet, the smooth, the rough
advance till only, we and us.
