The Other Side Of Nature Poem by Jaishree Nair

The Other Side Of Nature

Rating: 5.0

Sipping coffee from my cup.,
I stood admiring the sea enchanting,
Enraptured by its bewitching
enigma...
Unnaturally quiet the depth of the deep...

A faint uneasiness stirred...
Brushed aside the thought
Intent on relishing the magical moment.
The frolicking foamy flakes
deadly calm with a glint of the sun

A prenotion of foreboding?
I gazed hypnotized...
A slight shifting, the breakers retiring...
My coffee forgotten,
Backing.. Backing..Backing...

And then slowly advancing
Slyly, stealthily, silently,
Like an avenger dark,
gaining momentum
Fascinated.. aghast
Rooted to the spot, I stood..

As realisation dawned
shouted a warning in frenzy,
to the unsuspecting holidayers
mirthing in exhilaration of freedom...
And then....

All hell broke loose!
The breakers herculean
drawing near like claws of death...
Helter- skelter they ran
could not find any shelter.

Enveloped and smothered in the embrace of death!
A tale of woe buried in its lap!
To be marked in history
A warning to the generation.

Beauty of nature,
Acclaimed and exalted,
Its other face -
Relentless and callous.

This side of nature
to surface when taunted!
A warning reminder by the mother of all!
