Poets new and poets old
Give me pleasant company
I get back to them
Whenever I find
A little time
From earning my living
Doing my duty
Going about my daily chores
What delightful people are they!
Sharing their thoughts
Across vast divides
Of time and place
Across continents and centuries
Cutting through cultures and languages
From the Song of Gilgamesh
Through the age old Greek epics
Long poems and short haikus
At once old and at once fresh
Oh, how they lift my spirit up
To look forward to another day!
Whether old or new poets and poetesses give pleasure to readers. They are delightful people who share their thoughts across continents through cultures and languages. Great write. It is a great tribute to the poet and poetess.10
