The Song Of Life: 1. How's The Battle Scene Like? Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

At Kuru, the holy field, fight for right,
‘Tween Pandu's and offspring my own
Arrayed and eager to show might,
Sanjay, what happened at battles drawn?|| 1.01 ||

How's the battle scene like? Dhritarashtra asked his minister who was earlier bestowed with a divine vision to see the battle scene seated still at the palace. This is how the first verse of the first chapter (Arjun's Despair)of this eternal song of life called Bhagavad-Gita starts. Here is the transliteration of its Sanskrit text:

dharma-kśhetre kuru-kśhetre samavetā yuyutsavah |
māmakāh pāņđavāh cha eva kim akurvata sanjaya || 1.01 ||


dharma-kśhetre: at the battlefield of virtue, at the sacred soil; kuru-kśhetre: at the field of Kuru; samavetā: assembled, gathered; yuyutsavah: eager to engage in fight; māmakāh: mine, my own/darling; pāņđavāh cha eva: and also Pānđu's; kim akurvata: what (they)did? ; sanjaya: O Sanjaya.
