He made the choice to steel himself
Against the pain
Not to let his parents break him
He thought that he could make them
Stop their beatings, if they thought
It wasn't hurting him
If they weren't getting through,
That was his point of view.
But, little did he know
He only sealed his fate.
'Nothing fazes him' they said,
So they beat him worse, poor kid!
Sad poem. Really sad.But it has such beauty between its lines!
Thank you, Kostas, for having eyes to see beauty in the most unexpected places! : -)

Very sad poem- - But, life isn't always pretty. And reality-based poetry isn't always pretty, either. Thank you for reading and commenting, Dr. Tony!

when your life is hung by a thread, then it's time to tell the police instead
Perhaps he was too young to know that he could phone the police. Or maybe he didn't know how. Or he could have been intimidated into silence. A great deal of possibilities here. Thanks for reading and commenting, Louis! : -)
