কোলকাতার দর্জি (The Tailor From Kolkata)- Language: Bengali
কোলকাতার দর্জি, আনওয়ার হুসেন,
সদাই কাজে রত,
বিশ্রাম নেই জীবনে তার,
মেশিন চলে অনবরত!
সোনালী জরি দিয়ে গোলাপী শাড়ীর পাড়ে,
ময়ূরের পাখার ডিজাইন করে।
বিয়ের কনে এলো লাল শাড়ী নিয়ে,
ড্রেস বানানো হবে ওয়েস্টার্ন স্টাইল দিয়ে।
আনওয়ার জানে, কাজ শেষ হবে,
কেমন করে, অ্যামেরিকা ফেরার আগে।
মেয়ে বলে - কতো চাই তোমার,
গুচ্চি, মার্কস জেকব - সবাই মানবে হার।
আনওয়ার বলে - দিদি, ছবি একটা দিও তোমার,
যত্ন করে রাখবো দোকানে আমার!

i wish (sort of) that i could read Bengali, at least for today. the English Poet's Notes intrigue(s) me. and if Khairul likes it, i bet i'd like the poem as well. bri :)
I wish you could read Bengali, then I would have a brilliant poet read my Bengali poems! ! ! I am wondering if you are interested to read one or two of my translations of R. Tagore's poems. They present the roles and perspectives of Indian women hundred years ago!
