The Unknown Battle Poem by Gayatri Phukan

The Unknown Battle

THE UNKNOWN BATTLE
Original: Assamese: Gayatri Phukan
Don't know
Why the teardrops appear like blood
Perhaps
It is the symbol of failure
I am a failure
Before the feelings
Coiled like the light

I could not sleep
Being poked constantly
By a sharp pin of failure
Have remained awake
In the battle between light and dark

The dazzling of my eyes
Is fixed at a single point
Light is truth
That I wish to feel
Touching with my fingers
Life
Every truth is naked
Yet
That nakedness
Is illuminatig
