not all ice contributes
equally to sea level rise
ice that is floating in the ocean;
sea ice and icebergs does
not change sea level when it melts
because sea ice and icebergs;
displaces the same amount
of water as its mass;
ice that is on land glaciers
and ice sheets does increase
sea level when it melts;
because snow ice melt adds
new water to the ocean
that was not there before;
a prime factor that causes sea level rise
is thermal expansion of water this happens
when water gets warmer which causes;
the volume of the water to increase
global temperature rises due to greenhouse
gas emissions means ocean water heats
up and expands taking up more space;
about half of the sea-level rise
over the past twenty-five years
is attributable to warmer oceans
water warming occupying more space;
the other half is due to melting ice
on land warmer winters shorter winters
means less snow ice water on land;

A very nice analysis about the increase in sea level that may cause danger to the world and many of the cities will submerge. Thanks.
