from "While Passing Through"/Summer
Mimosa fragrance
from my neighbor's tree—
as much mine as hers!
What a wonderful thing to share! I remember the Jasmine that grew all along our fence in Zimbabwe. You could smell it from the bottom of the road (we lived on top of a hill) and I guess all the neighbours enjoyed it too.
indeed a wonderful thing to share. we couldn't keep it to ourselves if we wanted to. and as a neighbor i get to enjoy it free—free of having to water and care for it, etc. (but i also get to share the pile of pods from it that end up in my yard. oh well.) thank you for your comment, laurie. for me this is a reminder that the earth is YHVH's as we're told in the psalm. -glen
Mimosa fragrance from my neighbor's tree— as much mine as hers! .......much impressive and meaningful. A beautiful poem on nature amazingly shared. Thanks for sharing.10
thank you for your comment, kumarmani. from the biblical tradition we're told the earth belongs to God. and as a counter to our desire to possess, we can't help our fragrant plants from spreading their blessing beyond our property to be shared by all who are near. -glen
