Time does sweetly pause in your presence
No longer pressing hard and relentless
With days melting into grey weeks and months
Years passing swiftly, birthdays coming and going
Mysteries of life and death still unanswered.
Where does the Universe end, what lies beyond death?
Where abides God secretly overseeing creation?
Life's journey becomes harder and way steeper
Now an old man I attempt the final mountain's climb
Seeking for the distant summit, route more strenuous,
Taking long pauses resting content in your presence
Where all is bright and time does not matter
My heart rejoicing in your gift of wondrous love
Soul at peace knowing you are here beside me.
