Calypso's swaying to and fro
Weaving magic on her loom
And with her lips a song so sweet
Now glues him to his web of doom.
And lying on his couch of down
The one who foaled the Trojan Horse
Quite hypnotised, Odysseus,
By her subtle intercourse.

I do believe Homer was quite intentional in his portrayal of Odysseus overcoming the most fell of adversaries only to undone time and time again by the wiles of women. I find the application immensely and frequently useful. A fine and enjoyable piece, Tom, but truly leaves us longing for a longer tale. :)
Yes, there is much wealth in the Odyssey. bit surprised when he kicked up a fuss when he finally returned to Penelope. Presumably guilt at her faithfulness!
