To No One Given Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To No One Given

Curiosity.
Incentive.
Desire that ignites motivation.
Discipline and sacrifice.
Done as if to crave,
An appetite that stays persistent.
To no one is this given.
A mind remaining focused and driven.

Neither is there a hand to hold,
To show one the way...
How dreams to wish to want come true.
With a compass or a map provided.
Nor comes an approved slap on one's back.
That guarantees they will receive,
A dream to wish and want to get.
Without an effort made to endeavor it!

What is wanted wished to touch and get,
Takes leaving behind many awaken to find...
Whatever is wished to want,
Has to have them involved with reality.
And this to no one is given,
Who has not yearned it to earn!

Persistence? !
To no one is this given!
