Toccata Con Vivacità Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Toccata Con Vivacità

(dedicated to Mr. Jean-Yves Thibaudet, a great pianist)

drama
volatile
brusque
assertive

impassioned
expectation
fluctuating
emotion

caressing
tenderness
questioning
impetuosity

fast
lightly
virtuosic
touching

brilliant
cascading
the passages
accompaniment

a romantic world
under a gabled roof
evokes the home of
a weaver of old times

a pleasant stroll around
a red-marble porta speciosa
the lavishly decorated balcony
the impressive eclectic garden

the genteel tastes
a glimpse of folklore
eaves held by the figures
an outstanding representative

an authentic Baroque atmosphere
a wonderful Renaissance window
a magnificent Rococo door
a Romanesque boat

(inspired by Alfred Sisley's Small Meadows in Spring)
