Today Poem by Edwin Robinette

Today

Today, as a contrast of my usual self,
I assisted no one,
nor did I discuss cause and effect

I left some to their own discretion
as I lazed away the day doing nothing,
yes, nothing at all

The phone rang on and on

Yes, I was an awful soul.
I lent no shoulder to cry on
and gave no testimony of encouragement to anyone

Yes, poor loathesome me,
a sorry case of ineptitude,
Such a bogus rogue am I

Oh, well........
