Friends and family wait in the aisles,
painted windows gleam in a holy place,
even the little naughty toddler-girl smiles
and I see great joy on your radiant face.
An hour ago we were apart on our own
but now we have a different new life
and together we do face the unknown,
in times of happiness and times of strive.
As husband and wife we both vow a vow
uniform in expectation and each thought.
A time comes where you act as you do now,
in clear rebellion to what you were taught:
with a marriage on hold you do betray
and very empty is each God-given day.
