On this magnificent sea, what a dream!
Forgotten souls rise cheering from the deep,
the Stallion answers with a swarthy scream,
they clutch her mane though rudely roused from sleep.
Tonight we ride the winds of paradise
that blow forever challenging the waves.
Look! The clouds are fierce, brandishing the sky;
I stroke her head and grasp her mighty reins.
The Black Stallion rears, fire in her eyes,
in light and dark she gallops unafraid.
By that sweet temptress moon, she makes her run
careening toward the brilliant morning sun.
I read this gem again and I am totally embarrassed and ashamed of myself for needing to read the Note. It is so clearly a magnificent metaphor that I am now going to go stand myself in the corner and rest my aching eyes and really dumb head. This poem is so wild and unrestrained and pillages every sense a reader has- sight, sound, touch, taste... gorgeous! ! !
Having read the Poet Note, I returned to read the poem again and I was free to join you on that tumultuous wild ride through the stormy seas on that most gallant ship and yes! I could see the Captain lean forward and stroke the sleek ship's fiery sides! Excellent and stirring write, Captain my Captain! ! ! 10+++++++++++++++++++ and onto my fav list [well, of course, since you appealed strongly to my horse-loving heart and soul! ! ! ! ! ]
Oh thank goodness I read your Poet Note! ! ! ! ! ! I was sitting here wondering how I could gently, respectfully, with not one giggle inform you that a stallion is not a she but a he! ! ! ! You saved me from embarrassing myself. Thank you! ! !
A fantastic expression has been made on horse, pirates, sea, ship. Beautiful poem shared amazingly.
Weigh anchor, hoist the sails, fly your Jolly Roger flag! Ship and horse mixed in a beautiful poem dream!
