Toy Soldiers Poem by Barry Middleton

Toy Soldiers

these are not toy soldiers
this is not a video game
this is a sacred war
the enemy must be killed
lay waste to their lands

their sons and daughters
play in the dust and ash
someone must die for this
children known the game
these are only toy soldiers

another generation comes
our fathers have been slain
this is a sacred war
the enemy must be killed
these are not toy soldiers

Toy Soldiers

Unfortunatelly I do agree, dear Barry, it will never come a day where wars will have no place in human societies. The scene used in the poem paints vivid the terror manacing us.

Sadly so. Wish I could believe otherwise.

War is an awful thing, isn't it? Looking forward to the day when all such things will cease. Thanks for sharing this poem.

Love and hate, war and peace, good and evil are embedded in our DNA. War will never end till the world ends.
