Trapped Rats Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Trapped Rats

Only trapped rats,
Will make attempts...
To declare their innocence.
After being caught in the act,
With their mouths full of cheese.
And denying what is seen,
On jealous mice deluded...
By rumors they have heard to believe,
The cheese they deserve...
Had been stolen by fat cats.
Sneaking around underground.
Leaving evidence found,
Rats trapped caught in the act...
Claim not to be the rumored fat cats.
Since when they dress to impress,
They would do it much better than that!

"So...
What about the cheese?
And stacks of it,
Loaded on your backs? "

-Okay!
Perhaps we may have lowered are standards.
But it was only for the mice,
To leave them with lessons taught to teach...
A quality of life to live,
Is not to follow the ways of thieves! -

"Oh...
It all makes sense now.
You're not thieves.
Liars or deceiving crooks.
You are teachers of reality."

-Yeah!
Yeah, that's it! -

"And we,
Promise you will get...
Suitable reality!
As much of it as possible.
With accommodations,
You will find appropriate.
Just right! You'll like it."

-Great!
See...
Didn't I tell you.
If we stick to the same story,
No one can refuse it.
If 'we' ourselves keep it believed.-
