Truth Poem by Sayeed Abubakar

Truth

Rating: 5.0

Truth flees like a deer since False chases her
Like a tiger.

The followers of Truth are in prisons.
Many are tortured, kidnapped and murdered.
Law laughs at them.
People throw stones and dance in joy
Finding them hanged by court.

A little boy asked, 'Who are the judges? '
I feared to utter their names.
So I started singing lullaby to make him sleep.
He shouted, 'No. Let me know.'
His shouting broke the silence of the night.
The buried came out of their graves
And started shouting with the little boy.

I said, 'O God, why did You create Truth
And make me nothing but a poet? '

The truth must suffer before it is known by all.
