Tumalo Valley - Poem by Dustin Hoffman
There is a valley where the Ponderosa Pine trees grow. The creek flows with freedom through the bottom of the valley.
When the thunder clouds roles through the valley, it is a sight to see. The lighting flashes like a light bulb flickering, and the thunder roles with no care in the world like someone beating a drum.
The animals roam place to place without second thoughts. The birds fly from tree to tree with little effort.
The plants grow with all the power they have to give. The trees reach to the sky with every inch they have to grow.
The land has been burned and restored by Forestry and construction workers from local towns.
When it rains, it sounds like an orchestra playing a soft melody. The trees weaving back and forth through the wind.
It is a true sight to see such beauty through the windows of Skyliners lodge. Sadly you know that you won’t return the next year. The valley will have a special place in your heart.
Tumalo Valley will always be in the hearts of every counselor who has worked here. Tumalo valley will always be in my heart.
