from "While Passing Through"/Winter
Two winter-bleached leaves—
mulberry—in the ghost light
of a street lamp—
curled, deeply shadowed
on my driveway.
The two of them
there on the cold concrete
in pre-dawn darkness
arrest my gaze—
are a still life.
The two of them there on the cold concrete in pre-dawn darkness arrest my gaze- are a still life. - - - A lovely perspective- - On the concrete the fallen leaves - - the still life- -to wait for the dawn.

This is awesome drop. Harsh reality of the winter. Enjoyed.

It is amazing how simple objects can become arresting catalysts for deeper introspection. You have skillfully transferred that arresting moment of wonder to your reader, efficiently and deftly weaving a few memorable visuals. I especially enjoyed the image of the ghost light and the deep shadow of the curled leaf.
thanks, neal. as it happened i went out to the cold to put trash in the dumpster receptacle, and there they were. hoping you're well in all ways, glen

You are a close observer of Nature! Really enjoy your snippets showing your eye for detail! !
thank you, valsa, for noticing and appreciating. the subject matter (the two leaves) demanded the detail to communicate why it arrested my attention. hope you are well in all ways, glen
