Ukraine Russia War - A Year- Sans Peace, Sans Freedom Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Ukraine Russia War - A Year- Sans Peace, Sans Freedom

A year of tears and hopes,
twelve months of war and tragedies,
as Ukraine is still facing gloom and doom
as they keep fighting the Russian army.

Where will the Ukrainians hide their sufferings
how long will they bear the pain of bloodshed?
how many soldiers have died in this merciless war
how many people have lost their homes and families?

How many bombs and explosions occurred
how many houses and apartments have been demolished?
how many cities and streets have turned into debris
how many places look like ghost towns?

Who will answer all these questions
who will rectify all the lost unity and solidarity?
when will Ukraine retrieve its lost glory?
when will leaders choose to stop the war and fighting?

No hopes of mercy nor humanity arises
no dreams of unity or peace appears;
the eyes of the Ukrainians are still so full of anguish
as missiles keep falling suddenly like rain showers.

But I pray that the blessing of peace may soon arrive
and help Ukrainians re-unite with their families
as how difficult must have been a year that has glided by
as war has torn asunder callously their unity and serenity.
