Unable To Embrace The Basics Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Unable To Embrace The Basics

Unable to embrace,
The basic of issues.
Causing grief.
Unable to claim them,
As the cause of their misery.

Unable to embrace,
The basic of issues.
But still want changes made,
To have their way.

People want their normalcy.
And peace to have they can not keep.
To think that conflict and their wars,
Will restore what they had before.
But where was it to have then.
When they began racism.
To depict themselves as chosen ones.
And selected by God to rule.
Over other human beings to fool.

Unable to embrace,
The basic of issues.
And unable to face,
They're not superior among all races.

A few wish it to believe.
The ones with color have no quality.
Yet without the colored people around,
There would not be a greatness found.
These people want their normalcy.
A misconception of a history.
With symbols and statues built.
Constructed to protect their guilt.
And an ill gotten status.
Kept worshipped to have perceived,
Themselves to be the heroes.
But today that's not the truth exposed.
Causing them to have their mental woes.

Unable to embrace,
The basic of issues.
Or the facts.
Unable to face,
Reality to embrace.
Or accept.

Or accept.

Or accept!
