There...under the exotic tree,
The candid child in us at play:
I saw the little boy in thee,
In woods, with joy running that day;
Our hands softly touching a leaf green,
In hearts, rosy love blooming unseen.
'I've never got lost in forest, when I was a boy! '
Thou said, whilst thyself losing in me...
That moment, we embraced in glances coy,
As the light of love was there to see;
And through that journey of the mind,
Our hearts encountered in Sublime!
They were wandering amongst the trees,
And singing birds, and butterflies;
And they were light, and pure, and free;
Happily, they vanished in the skies...
The little boy, hand-in-hand with tiny me:
There...under the exotic tree!
This is the same theme as my FIRST KISS FOR K. W. But your poem is laced in poetic diction and rhythms and a rhyme scheme which I would have missed if your reader in Brazil had not highlighted it. The things you said about my poem are abundantly present here: the sweetness and charm, the clarity and simplicity. I'm going to put a copy of your poem with mine in my poetry folder. One poem with a vision of first love can be dismissed as sentimentality, BUT T-W-O P-O-E-M-S are unassailable.
