Until Tomorrow - Poem by Ashley Marshall

I stare at a picture of my mom, dad, and me
we look so happy, so perfect
but were not that family
its all a lie
everything we do
everything we say
all of it

No one knows the true people behind those faces
no one can see the pain underneath our plastered on smiles
no one knows what really happens
when the sun goes down
and its just the three of us
thats when it all falls apart

It starts off as a low yell, just mild bickering
and then they explode...
screaming so loud the windows shatter
back and forth they fight like children
making it impossible for me to sleep
i toss and turn in my bed
until at last they seize and compromise
now my house is a trickling fountain, peaceful and calm, the way it should be

Until tomorrow...

inspired by a friend....
