Upon The Roof (Home Is Where The Heart Is) Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

Upon The Roof (Home Is Where The Heart Is)

Rating: 5.0

Footsteps in the ATTIC tonight
.....Or perhaps, once again upon the roof?
Sometimes it's like trying to discern
...Between flour & sugar - 'you know, the proof! '

Tell you it's not something pleasing to hear
.....But truthfully we are prepared- -
Sometimes it's just such a bitter pill
...Like illegal alkaloids blowing in our central air!

You know what drives this INSANE world?
.....All of the heroin and methamphetamine- -
Neither is like the Sugar in your coffee
...But i think that you know what i mean! ! !

We do not like surprises - folks! ! !
.....We want to be the ones who surprise- -
So, if you're reading this - please make note
...That this heart has ears and eyes! ! ! ! !

Reading this made me aware how blessed I am and how blessed I wished you and others in your position were. I sit here daily with my front door open, my screen door not even locked and have no problems... I pray I never do. If we do, we will get a pair of Dobermans and a yapper. But there are people who do not want guard dogs because it infringes on their freedom to come and go. That leaves them so vulnerable. Gives me the shivers. May God watch over you and keep you safe wherever you go wherever you stay. Be safe, my dear friend....

Police and higher law enforcement say that dogs are not the answer...as sometimes they let the intruders in - let them pet them etc...i am talking about guard dogs. Not the answer, Susan most especially in this insane obsessed situation because the party behind it all is still very bent on having his way...We've been advised the best things to have are: a full proof security system, friends, and a gun! Have learned how to use one and will use it if that is what it takes to stop this insanity.

This is a write about illegal home invasion by any means. It is about the use of illegal substances used to achieve a means to their rotten/evil/ heinous plans. Its about a man with long tentacales that are far reaching....it's ab out the truth of victimization....it's about greed. It's about revenge - it's about hate and anything that goes against God's teachings. A mans home SHOULD be his castle- -sorrowfully, sometimes it is not. We have had so much crime in this little town just in the last 7 months - most all of it is drug related. Living in Texas can be scary - it's scary for all the border states....New Mexico, AZ and California, too. Our state is full of mules(drug runners) all though many of them are being killed off...it is full of gangs...hispanic gangs...gansters - -who make their money smuggling and dealing drugs. Unfortunately they have customers and not all of the customers are adults. Some are in grade school and they peddle their drugs in school zones. About as low as a person can go....getting 2nd and 3rd graders addicted - - and they either die or commit crimes - stealing from their parents, friends and strangers....but i am not just talking about the gangsters we have here - i am talking about it's spread and other crimes committed on people. For example our home has had multiple, multiple illegal entries - the last when i was home alone. These entries were on the orders of a drug addled, maniac whose heart is full of hatred and a need for money - - bent on revenge for what i do not know. We live now as if we are in a war zone - no one should ever have to live that way, ever. Thanks to some help from a few P.E.'s (costly) but worth it and government law enforcement - this man and some of his aids names are recorded...they will remain there until or if we ever feel safe in our home again...whenever we leave like on holidays like Christmas, and Thanksgiving and can come back and know that NO ONE has been in here doing God knows what again. Could write an entire book on this - but it has been one big nightmare.

The title of this poem attracted me, but it is anything beyond what I expected to read (actually I didn't even think much) ! But reading the poem I realized how strong an impression it makes and makes you think of all the troubles with drugs and crime that are hitting so close to home. It is not anymore somebody else's problem. It is effecting all of us in a very seductive and disturbing ways. Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem.

Thank you Savita for you kind review. Yes, when i write about crime - it usually about what IS happening NOW! ! ! It is about what is happening here in the USA and what the contributing factors are...there has been an upsurge of home invasion, robbery, assault, rape, - - murder and crimes against familes - like extortion on families or persons, embezzlement - in companies, and on families- -etc. Never have seen anything like it...the numbers are mind blowing and unless you have been a victim yourself - you can read about it and still not really grasp the horror of it all and what it does to your heart and soul - it changes you - it changes your belief's - your feelings - you find yourself thinking differently - thinking about what you would do - to protect you, your family - to stop the insanity....we've have had to take extreme measures - and spend plenty of money in the process. Every day a new name pops up - places i have never heard of like Summerville, SC...or last names such as Wymer....feel blessed that we have the professional help, though! Thank you, thank you, thank you again for taking the time to read and understand my write. Pray that this does not ever happen to you, ever.
