Value Prayer Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Value Prayer

Many are desperate.
And have become weary.
These troubling,
Conflicting and divisive days.
Seeking government funding,
To mend and fix...
Their broken minds.
Fed to feed on greed and bling!

Entitled to worship,
Material things.
Pretensions.
And false impressions made.
Dieting on deceptions.
Allegations and the latest,
Rumors to hear gossiped.

What happened,
To that faith.
Claimed to have in God?
More Christians are addicted,
To liquor, beer and drugs.
Becoming argumentative,
If asked...
When had been,
The last time they prayed.

People of self anointing,
Righteousness.
People!
Smothered under layers,
Of bigotry.
Hypocrisy.
And medicated,
Self importance.
Not to value prayer at all.
Or sit to examine,
Their own blemishes.
And ignored flaws.

Although...
Protest they do,
Against the government.
Rules, laws and the loss,
Of order and discipline.
No one these days,
Seem to respect to give it.
Or know what that means,
To express to have.
Yet...
Expect someone,
To come to their rescue.
For the purpose to put holes,
In a floating boat.
Isn't that the custom,
Of children lazy and spoiled?
And upset throwing tantrums.
Because it has been decided,
A boat sent to rescue them...
Is not good,
Or impressive enough!
But...
Not themselves to build it.
Since...
Destroying everything,
Ever given to them...
Is the reality,
They have always known!
This is the reality...
To them shown as true.
No matter how unhealthy...
This sickness has affected,
Their mentalities.
And poisoned their way of life!
