Vanishing Point Poem by Nell Sheridan

Vanishing Point

Vanishing Point
You don't like this, you cant stand that, I should change mywild unruly hair,
Prefer a dress to this, you don't like those, make upis a daily must to wear,
Don't ridethe bike, change my friends, because they don't suit your picky taste,
Don't you realize, these things make me, all my choices I live going to waste,

Don't write poetry, my job substandard, my family don't cater to every single need,
Let's not forget, before changing someone, ideally they should have firstly agreed,
No permission given, nil consent was sought, bewildered by your obvious hypocrisies,
Are you perfect, was I not informed, that you have apparently no noted inadequacies,

So now you have changed, everything about me, every complaint you did appoint,
So now I am nothing, nothing like me anymore, the person you likedat vanishing point,
Vanishing point yes, Im nowhere in sight, yetI'm still nothing likeyour ideal dream,
Vanishing point yes, that parallel existing, that uncomfortable placeright in between,

Will you ever return me, to the original person, I was before your meddling incessant,
Was it not enough, the person that I was, or am I required to be sparkling iridescent,
Must I appease you, on every single level, forgettingwho I amjust foryour time,
You have issues, yes you have flaws, perfect faultsperhaps even more than mine,

Standing on the corner, handing out free judgement, standingallalone lacking insight,
Trying to grasp a concept, far beyond your limit, not all gold glitters in the harsh daylight,
Your calling out names, wondering whyno replies, because nothingsjust ever good enough,
Hypocrite thus attending, never questioning yourself, I would say your edges are just as rough,

Vanishing point, well like a magician, I will return from a girl completely invisible,
Move along now, take your hypocrisy, make some other girl seemingly miserable,
One day someone, will make you feel, that you have reached the vanishing parallel,
When or where, is anyone's guess, but I am sure that your hypocrisy it will thus quell.

A good poem about keeping true who you are - no one should try to take it from you. A 10
