Venture In A Field Without Rules!
Hahaha! So I fail again
In following the rules of limerick!
Thanks to my friend Bri and Valsa
For pointing to my ignorant gibberish!
I think I will go to library
And do a thorough research,
Before I try my hands on Limerick!
Train my mind into rules of poetry,
Try to write a poem that flows with
Choice words and numbered syllables.
But poetry is not a gimmick of words
Flowing from a linguistic's mind!
Chances are my plan for library
Will take a long time.
If I can't remember the rules
I am afraid my way to library too will I lose!
But a poet's heart and
A linguistic mind is demanded
To explore the nook and cranny
Of poetry's field
may be I will do just what
many have done before!
Revolutionize the limerick
With free verse rules!
Keep the humor and discard the rules!
This wonderful poem resonates with me. I have written 2 limerick poems and posted on this site. It was fun doing limerick Poetry yet it was not easy to craft this poetic form because of the rules: rhyme scheme, lines and syllables scheme. A true and perceptive poem.
You don't need rules or a limerick to write humor. However, limericks are not that hard to write. A person of your talent should be able to do it easily! Good luck with it!
By adhering to strict rules, we very often restrict our creative expression.But trying to write a limerick or a haiku within rules may also enhance our creativity.
