Voodoo Tales Poem by Aphrodite Anastasia Menegaki

Voodoo Tales

I got drunk in The Big Easy
Oh boy, do I feel dizzy!
Let the good times roll
Where's my wallet? I lost control!

Voodoo dolls and sweet beignets
I'm loving it; place your bets
Haha! Hurray and Halleluiah!
You didn't see it coming to ya!

Down on bustling Bourbon Street
Jazz, fortune tellers and men of deceit
I found another kind, found a voodoo queen
Black sugar skin and eyes so green
She called a ghost, she did her witchy acts
She had needles long and dolls of wax

Oh la la! There's voodoo coming to ya!
Oh yes! Haha! Hurray and Halleluiah!
You're up for a spooky surprise
And it'll hurt like chilly in the eyes!

Darling you can cry, beg and sweat
But you bet ya little soul, I never forget!
Ghosts, crows, rum and that voodoo
That's what I like, that's what I do
So darling try and run, lie and hide
But I'll see you on the other side!
