Wait And Hope Poem by Daniel P Martin

Wait And Hope

Rating: 5.0

Do your best tormentor, but you shall not win today,
For I recognise your footsteps, and I shall not be your prey,
Your name has been exposed now, and your methods are quite clear,
Your subtle ways of hurting, can no more induce such fear.

My past has known your presence, you dark and subtle foe,
My mind was at your mercy, as the carrion to the crow,
You tempted me with fantasy, and you dropped me from a height,
You showed me beauty in sunlight, all the more to fear the night.

Your temper does precede you, when your work is under way,
You undermine love's power, driving hopes and dreams away,
The bringer of the darkness, the suppressor of the flame,
The designer of my downfall, making me absorb the blame.

But you fail to understand me, you miscalculate my resolve,
You're no more than a mystery, one which simply must be solved,
My heart is filled with beauty, and my soul knows only love,
My life is full of warmth, just like the hand within the glove.

And so my dear tormentor, you shall not prevail today,
Your ambush tactics fail, and I shall not act out your play,
For you see I know your name, and I anticipate the slope,
I have grown in strength of mind, and I shall Wait, and I shall Hope.
