Waiting At Heaven's Gate
Jimmy and Johnny were at Heaven's Gate.
To talk to Saint Peter, they had to wait.
They both were quite young,
And their early deaths stung.
While waiting, they chatted about their fate.
'What caused your death? ' said John to Jim.
'I froze to death, ' said Jim to him.
'I've been thinking a lot
And I'm in a tight spot.
My chances at Heaven I think are slim.'
'And how did you die, my new-found friend?
Please tell how it was that you met your end.'
'Well, I'll give it a shot;
Quite a story I've got.
I hope that you're able to comprehend.'
'I suspected my wife was cheating on me,
So one day I came home quite early, you see.
I looked all around,
But no scoundrel I found,
So I felt as sorry as someone could be.'
'I had called her unfaithful and searched the whole house,
And when I found nothing, I felt like a louse.
My grief was profound
And I fell to the ground.
A heart attack felled me in front of my spouse.'
'Are you joking? ' asked Jimmy. 'Don't give me that jive!
Then YOU are the reason I didn't survive!

If you'd checked the freezer,
Then both of us poor boys would still be alive! '

I will put this to my Poem List once this feature will come back. I just wish Poem Hunter did not remove our treasure box. I didn't know they had removed it. Haven't used it lately. The unfaithful call provokes thought entirely. You have been thinking a lot and to imagine the gate of heaven. Friend will tell about the hope. This poem is very amazing and brilliantly penned.
