Wasn'T Your King - Poem by Josh Burnett

Somedays I sit feeling you are falling away from me
Somedays I love you feels like it doesn't mean a damn thing
I can't believe all of your anger that you try to bring
Even after I lifted you up and sheltered you under my wing
But I guess that I'm not good enough to make your heart sing

I gave you my passion, dedication, my everything
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king
I gave you my love, my trust, everytime you needed a hug
I did anything because I loved you that much
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king

I can't sit here and listen to all of the cursing coming from your lips
I admit I never did want to commit to all of your little fits
But I had to throw up my hands and just let myself quit
The prize in your eyes wasn't worth what I had to put up with
I never wanted to touch your fingertips anyway and kiss you on the lips

I gave you my passion, dedication, my everything
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king
I gave you my love, my trust, everytime you needed a hug
I did anything because I loved you that much
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king

I caught you cheating I knew I was being led like a dog on a lesh
You told me that you had more respect for me than what you really did
How can I look you in the eyes and tell you this is a great relationship
When you tear yourself away from me leaving me to feel like shit
You leaving me left me stripped down from every single sense
I should have seen the nonsense and took the notion to leave

I gave you my passion, dedication, my everything
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king
I gave you my love, my trust, everytime you needed a hug
I did anything because I loved you that much
I gave you enough to tell you that you were my queen
But it feels like a waste because I wasn't your king
