We Daced Poem by Sadiqullah Khan

We Daced

We danced day and night
The world pirouettes and the winds
Bring light. There are those who
Have been dying. The music has
Gone dull, the beaten rhythm
On the tambourine of a setting sun.
Swell the drum's skins, that we dance
The defeated breath from a mother's
Swallow. The air is fresh with blood.
