A sudden rain
came down—
with rising sun
behind it—
in pulsing lines
of light.
Especially when rain
means tears—
to have this sight! —
to have this sight.
Your first six lines is OBSERVATION; the last four lines provide a MEDITATION. What you observed is an unusually clear moment of paradox: rain falling from a sunlit sky As I pictured it in my mind, I felt such purity within me. It was a sudden and total awareness of a natural goodness. The last four lines is not an extended meditation It is like a ZEN moment in which everything makes perfect sense. Your poem is SUDDEN ILLUMINATION, from ignorance to truth in one leap. It parallels my FOUR TAOIST POEMS which will be the Poem of the Day on Sept.23, Saturday.
as you have before, daniel, you've understood this poem as perfectly as is possible. the last lines parallel something i say in the second stanza of my poem a snatch of mariachi music—sorrow too can be seen as a spice in our lives to make our view of life as one that is achingly beautiful... i'm glad to see that your four taoist poem will be the poem of the day; that day recently when nominations were called for, i nominated it along with another (or two more?) . a lot of good stuff in those poems, daniel. warm congratulations! -glen
Especially when rain means tears— to have this sight! — to have this sight. - - - - - -Suddenly emotions rise up with some memories and tears pour down from eyes- - - - When we see a rain we feel as if the sky is crying - - -beautifully composed poem, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Bharati! And thank you for commenting. This was unusual and special to see. And I thought even if we associate rain with sorrow, to see it lit like this makes it beautiful, gives a perspective on it that is at least less negative if not downright positive. -Glen
It will be beautiful to have a rain when the sun is still shining bright! It will give an additional glow to each drop and 'needle' of rain! Lovely!
thank you, valsa. interesting you use the word needle. it was the first term that came to mind to describe what i saw, but i chose lines because it was neutral in its connotations. -glen
Sudden rain with rising sun gives brilliant light of sight. Amazing poem is shared here...10
thank you, kumarmani. it was a sight! a couple of people asked me if i had also seen a rainbow. i hadn't, but it may have been there. but i was taken by the sight of the rain lit like this which i saw as i rounded the park that is the most usual place for my early morning walks. -glen

I would like to translate this poem
This is so moving... to have this sight! - to have this sight...I call it the sixth sense. When your heart is full of gratitude for the beauty it is beholding, where others just see a sunshower and nothing more. It is such a gift and thank you Glen for sharing.
i'm glad you found it so, loza. it was indeed a rare and beautiful sight. (here in summer it's usually in the afternoon we get rain.) you're welcome, and thank you for the reading and commenting. -glen
