Where Has Thou Country Gone Poem by Ibrahim Farinde

Where Has Thou Country Gone

Rating: 5.0

I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful, loyal and honest
To serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity, and uphold her honour and glory,

Hmmm,
Where has thou country gone
A place of no value and recognition
We call you 'Giant of Africa'
But found in the world of relegates
Like the league table of football
Where has thou country gone

Nigeria
Home of injustice, where political instability occurs on a daily basis
A country where insurgents share power with the government
Where infrastructures and economy standard is flamboyantly degraded
Where has thou country gone

Ha! Ha! ! Ha! ! !
What have we done wrong? What did I nor do right as a citizen
Is it about help or to promote our culture? Which is about to face the wrath of extinction?
But all to no avail
Hmmm, seeing the outcome of things, the happenings all around
What will I do now? What else can I do? ? ?
So help me God, Amen.

The curse of bad politics and bad leadership plagues us all; but some countries sadly are worse than others, while a few are painfully torn by violence and war. 'So help me God, Amen.' is one of the few things we can do in times of extreme crisis, may your prayrs and those of your country be answered.
