Whether To Imitate Or Not Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Whether To Imitate Or Not

The last days of ignorance to celebrate,
Done to do to keep them praised.
Has finally begun,
To face the fast pace of a setting Sun.

Many too embarrassed,
By their own ignorance shown to have known...
Have begun to witness and admit,
They too had been hypocrites.
Allowing themselves to portray,
Dim wits and circus clowns.
Whether to imitate or not.
But awakening to realize,
Acts of self depreciating to represent.
For them must stop.

And the last days of their ignorance,
Whether to have imitated them or not.
Has no place to stay that way.
As the setting Sun on those days leave.
With clowns under circus tents
prevented,
In a future found to be less tolerant...
Of anyone persisting,

Their ignorance to keep it...
Is neither accepted nor adored as before.
