Why Should I Be That Optimistic? Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

If I was given the opportunity each day,
To seek a happiness with that on my mind to pursue...
Why would I spend twenty three hours of it,
Being negative and feeling as miserable as possible?

'That's a real good question.
Especially when one has been given twenty four.
To me...
That would be a wasted day.'

But...
You would still have one hour left.

'To do what?
It already takes me a full two hours,
To find someone to listen to my complaints.
And why should I be that optimistic? '
