Winters Cold Song Poem by David Wood

Winters Cold Song

Rating: 5.0

A tired autumn slowly surrenders
To a virulent winter with the strike
Of winters hammer on its cold anvil.

Autumn threw old leaves off trees
And when they didn't fall caused
The wind to blow them away.

The trees are now bare, water is
Now drawn up into their trunk. They
Wait upon the ravages of frost and ice.

A weak watery yellow sun tries its
Best to smile, but it is getting low on
The horizon and it's all too much effort.

The birds shiver in naked branches,
Only ivy comes to their rescue as the
Cold winter wind begins to bite.

The once red and golden leaves have
Now turned mushy on paths and
Along cold windy country lanes.

With winter comes hope. Snowdrops
Will push through frozen earth to
Add colour to winters drab coat.

Soon winter will grow old and wane
And spring will blossom daffodils, and
Tree buds will soon start greening.

Life will once again flourish with
Birdsong, and new lambs in fields as
Spring rains brings new life and fresh hope.

A beautiful poem with a wonderful title. It depicts that in life, everything has its own time.

p1/ This text has a high poetic value, metaphors and poetic sense beautify the text more. The fluctuations of the seasons have allegorical meanings, as the skilled poet wrote it here,
