Woman, Made A Punching Bag Of Man Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Woman, Made A Punching Bag Of Man

Rating: 5.0

A woman, beaten by the cruel hands of her man
Beaten as she raises her voice to challenge his words
Beaten as she goes out to celebrate her freedom
Beaten as she refuses to do what he orders and wants.

And the battered woman accepts her tragic lot
Bearing the marks of violence on her own body
Longing for golden days of love and romance
Lamenting on her destiny as punching bag of man.

Yes, Veeraiyah, violence against woman is a global issue. Violence takes place in all continents in our one world. Other men think it is their right to be violent because they look at women as their own objects. OTher women keep up the struggle while others give up before seeing the dawn. Yes, Asif, our poems or any genre of writing must contribute to an awareness of this issue which often our societies take for granted.

Whether it is the global issue or the not economically independent women's issue, that has to be debated, but I used to hear the professionals as well as the uneducated women and the women irrespective of their economic, academic and religious status, they are beaten up..very sad issue..
