Worn Out By The Effort Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Worn Out By The Effort

If I am not soliciting,
Your attention.
And...
You are not preventing me,
From getting it.
I am trying to avoid...
As much of it as you give as possible.

I am not in search of it.
And this,
I believe...
You misunderstand.
If I had a magic wand...
I'd disappear from you,
On command.

You follow 'me'...
As if you wish I show interest.
Although I am told,
You express to others...
How tired you are of seeing me,
Wherever 'you' go!
And I am sure you are worn out by the effort!
