Would I Be Forgotten Poem by K J

Would I Be Forgotten

If I stay silent enough,
Saying not a word, not even taking a breath,
Maybe I will go unnoticed...
Should I remain so a long time,
Perhaps none would remember my voice...
Or that I once spoke.....

If I make myself look like you,
Like the next passer by, and everyone else,
Maybe I will blend in to the mass
And no one will notice me
And everyone will forget me.....

If I remain so, year after year,
No one will see that I am here....
My love, I hope they will
But I fear you will neither.

Should they so forget about me,
So that I existed no more, but for you
and myself,
If I then walked in to the sea
And remained still,
Would the sea, the Earth itself, forget me
And let the sea spin through me? Possibly...
So sorely I hope it would,
That in all it's oblivion
It would take me over the sea
To where you would still remember me.....
