Wrapped In Foil Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Wrapped In Foil

A chocolate heart wrapped in foil.
In his mouth it melts.
The sweetness wrapped around his
tongue. Mashing against his teeth.
He swirls in happiness.
His overbite in tact.
For a minute, he forgets about the
world. The beauty of solace.
Forgetting the way that he looks.
The way that the rest of the world
sees him.
He balls the foil up in his hand
and puts it in his pocket until the next
trash can he passes.
This chocolate heart accepting him the
way that he is.
It doesn't judge him based on the way
that he looks.
Just as he accepts it the way it is.
Regardless of the foil they are both
wrapped in.
It takes courage to accept what makes
someone different.
Acceptance, makes the world that
much better.
Regardless the amount of fear
to do so.
