You're My Greatest Friend In Time... Poem by Shaun Cronick

You're My Greatest Friend In Time...

Rating: 5.0

I'll always carry good paper,
And unfailingly a reliable pen.
To simply write a poem,
In my favourite leafy glen.

Outdoors is simply best of all,
It puts my mind at ease.
Ideas flow through my head,
In a gentle summer's breeze.

I think of Ella Wheeler Wilcox,
A great poet with great rhyme.
For her memory never passes,
A great writer of her time.

The sun smiles down on me,
The birds are all in song.
They help me guide my hand,
Relaxing me all day long.

The hours seem like moments,
So much time has slipped away.
And another poem is finished,
On a beautiful summer's day.

This poem is for you dear Ella,
And your legacy of great rhyme.
A wonderful poet never forgotten,
For you're my greatest friend in time.
