Best Poem of Rebecca Kingswell

The Life Of Books.

Strewn across a table,
Without any care
Not displaying the knowledge
That they’d really like to share.

Placed on a shelf
High up in the air,
These prized possessions
Live in the reader’s lair.

Dumped in a schoolbag
Full of creases and tears,
These books certainly live
A life full of despair.

Underneath my pillow,
Waiting to be read
Is my best friend “Book”
Who often feeds my head.
Then while I’m sleeping
He’ll always sing to me
A lullaby of words
That never sound off-key.
