Little hands grasp the branches
Of the oak tree so rough, so harsh
Rub against the bark of the trunk
Run over the uneven surface

Forever imprinted on the outside of the tree
Are the hand and footprints of innocence
With eyes so wide and curious
Drinking in the praise of the day

To the sky, the figure shouts,
As it weaves through the maze of branches
No more tears, no more sorrow,
For the open sky brings freedom and peace

Broken shafts of strong light dapple the child's frame
Sweet air the child breathes
Pure peace the child knows
