The Sublimity Of Ennui -Or, To A Stick In The Mud

Tell me then, what delights you?
What amuses you if not this:
perhaps a monkey on rollerblades,
or, put him on a unicycle bouncing
a red rubberball while keeping
rhythm with a hula hoop;
and, if also then, he lit a cigar
from a shot glass afire full of grain
then blew smoke rings that wafted
hazily only to spell your name in cursive.
Would you be impressed? Would you smile?
Would the laughter of a sinless child
bring you any hope?
or, the snuggle of your true love
hugging you ...
