Corner Store

is where we order our drugs;
Coffee, warmth, nicotine and sugar.
Alone.

Here, (on this dark, windswept, cold) corner
is where we buy our drugs:
Prozac, light bulbs, condoms and gum.
Alone.

There, (on the dark, windswept, cold) corner
is where a busker stands, listening to me
tell the adventure of my purchases.
Alone.

Above the dark, windswept, cold corner,
the august painter casts a cold, measuring eye down
On the story of my life.
And, I am alone.
