On An Axis

We all have our own worlds to give
She just didn’t want to trade
And I gave her mine all the same
Forgetting Hesitant Caution

A broken heart is a filled ashtray
Cloudy windows on a clear day
A dusty shelf filled with books you’ve read
Everyday I go to her funeral
How do I fit into her life now?
Pallbearer, Forgotten Dream, Relieved Nuisance?
The mistakes are cruel and duel-sided
An ever-changing eulogy
Thousands of hours lost
On an ancient mattress
Pages still turn, ink still darkens the paper
And her ghost adds to the frustration
