I’d Rather Be Dreaming

I’d rather be dreaming than living
To view the world through my inner eye
Detached from reality; as time goes by

In a world without imperfection
Without guarded borders and nations
Free of any debauchery
And the cruel chains of monotony
Without one diseased body or soul
Who’s been caught in the chains of want
A world free of man’s Beelzebub
Since man’s heart it cannot haunt
Why here I can stay an eternity
Although I wish in futility

Since alas, it can’t last forever
It must end like any endeavor
Where I’d rather be dreaming than living
